According to Giancarlo Sestieri this “Arcadian landscape” is a “qualitative testimony” to Francesco Zuccarelli’s painting during the influence of Marco Ricci, a Venetian landscape painter, who was decisive in ours after his move to Venice in 1732, where in 1736 he was already a member of the Fraglia, a guild of painters.

Smith, he moved to London where five years later he became a member of the Free Society as a sign of his success.
