Description
The panel represents the corpse of Christ, partially covered by the shroud, lying on a bed and with his head resting on a cushion. The figure of Jesus stands out in the center of the painting while around his bedside we find the Madonna la Maddalena, San Giovanni and San Giuseppe d’Arimathea. The scene takes place in a closed and dark environment, probably the tomb.
In this ancient 16th-century painting, of beautiful size and proportions, probably born as a door above, Christ is painted stretched out in the lower part along the entire length of the work. The contrast of colors of the white of the body of Christ and of the clothes of the other characters is excellent. In the complexion, in the expressions of the characters as well as in the drapery, the painting echoes the stylistic ways of the Emilian school of the late fifteenth century. Coeval frame in excellent condition
